Reopen Strong: Enroll Your Student Today! If you haven’t already done so, go to enrolldcps.dc.gov and enroll your student.

We know our students learn best when they are in the classroom. This fall, our focus will be on providing your student with a safe, joyful and immersive classroom environment. We are not treating this fall like any other. We recognize the significant impact that the pandemic has had emotionally and academically on our students. We will help students re-connect to their teachers and classmates, and celebrate the joy of being back together in the classroom.

We can’t wait to welcome everyone back. Enroll today at enrolldcps.dc.gov.

Virtual Learning Registration

We hope and expect the majority of our students will return to full-time in-person learning in the fall. However, we know there are students who have a medical condition who need to continue virtual instruction.

To register for virtual instruction, families must submit the required form signed by their doctor online or by dropping it off at the school. Families are asked to complete this form by July 30, 2021, or we cannot guarantee students learning virtually will have a schedule for the first week of school. Only enrolled students are eligible to register for virtual learning.

Check out the FAQ on virtual learning at dcpsreopenstrong.com/sy21-22/virtual and our virtual learning one-pager in English , Spanish, Chinese, and Amharic.

Safely Reopening: Health and Safety Information

We’ve taken comprehensive steps to ensure your child is safe while attending school. At Cleveland Elementary School here’s what you can expect this fall:

· HVAC enhancements for well-ventilated spaces;

· Required face masks for all students, staff, and visitors;

· Enhanced cleaning protocols for high-touch surfaces;

· Social distancing to the extent possible, with most classrooms expected to be at least three feet apart; and

· Verbal health screens upon entry for all students and staff.

Even though this is an unpredictable time, families should have confidence that we have taken the necessary steps and then some to ensure your child is welcomed back to a safe and supportive learning environment.

Immunization Reminders

We encourage you visit to your family's pediatrician for your student's annual wellness exam. Scheduling an appointment with your child's doctor will help make sure your child is up to date on important immunizations to prevent illness. District of Columbia policies and regulations require students to submit updated immunization documentation for the new school year. Students who do not submit the records within 20 days will not be able to until those records are received.

We are also encouraging our students ages 12 or older to receive the COVID-19 vaccine to help protect our community from COVID-19. The COVID-19 vaccine is safe and effective and currently not required to attend school next year.

Afterschool Programming is Back!

We can’t wait to welcome back your student in 6 weeks!!!!!!! We want to make sure you are hearing from us on what you need to know before August 30.

Please send us your questions and stay up to date by following @dcpublicschools.

See you and your student soon!

Sincerely,

Principal Krughoff/
